You consider the causes of his low respiratory rate and institute appropriate care. However after simple airway manoeuvres the respiratory rate is still 4 and the patient remains hypoxic. Advanced airway care is carried out and 100% oxygen is adminstered. You complete the primary survey and find no immediate life threatening thoracic or cardiovascular problems. Standard trauma films are carried out and a CT brain scan is requested.
