Child on bed
Back to St Emlyn's Reception

1. Can this be left for the next ENT clinic?

Not really, it could dislodge and be aspirated. It needs to come out sooner rather than later.

2. How many ways can you think of for getting it out?

There are probably thousands, but examples would include.

a. Grasping with forceps
b. using a wax hook to go beyond the fb and come back.
c. Use a flexible sucker to suck it out.
d. Blow into the mouth whilst holding the right nares closed.

3. Does the patient need a GA?

Well they certainly need some sedation. We would suggest IV Ketamine as an appropriate choice for a child such as this.
